CO-CHAMPS! The Gurkhas swept a double-header against the Bronx Bombers, Tuesday, Oct. 17, winning 27-13 & 23-7 to tie for the 2023 Fall Ball League title. Front row, l-r: Larry Hack, Tom Taylor, Josh Zeitz, Frett Crosby, Scott Lannen and mgr./player Jeff Aiello. The Gurkhas finished with a 7-3 record to tie with the Fall Ballers for the league Championship.

The Gurkhas - 27 Bronx Bombers - 13.
In the final night of fall ball with 3 teams still in the running for the title , The Gurkhas came out like warriors running on all cylinders. Taking on the Bronx Bombers tonight we scored 5 runs in the first and never looked back scoring in all 7 innings. We played good defense and everyone with at least 2 hits and and scoring a run . Batting leaders were Jason Kennedy leading off for us tonight going 5 for 5 and a double and an homer , Eric Setter 4 for 4 HR and a triple, Peanut in his last game in Sylvania going 3 for 3 and a BB ,Nick Flair 2 for 3 and 2 BB , Larry the Hack 3 for 3 and a BB and a double, Tom Terrific Taylor 4for 4 and a double, Scott Mahon 3 for 3 and a BB , Mike Miller pitching and fielding a great game went 4 for 5 , 2 doubles, sub Josh Zietz filling in for Pac man 3 for 5 , the rest had at least 2 hits and walks .

The Gurkhas - 23 Bronx Bombers - 7.
In the nightcap the Bombers came out on fire and scored 5 runs in the top of the first and held the lead for 1 inning. The the Gurkhas scored 5 runs in 4 of the next 5 innings and holding the bombers to just 2 more runs the rest of the game. Another fine pitching and fielding game for Mike Miller and great fielding from the team . Batting leaders were Nick 4 for 4 double, Jason Kennedy 3 for 4 double, sub and part time Gurkha Josh Zietz 3 for 4 , Mike Miller 3 for 4 triple ,Peanut 3 for 4 inside the park homer , Brett Crosby 3 for 3 double and a triple , Mr triple with 2 of them Larry Hack , Scott Mahon 3 for 3,Aiello Sitter and Pastorek with 2 hits . Missing tonight were Larry Hernandez and Pac-man . What a great way to finish the year with 2 of our best games of the year to tie for first place.

CO-CHAMPS! The Fall Ballers, dropped the first game of a double-header 20-13 to the Tuesday Night Heroes. Now at 7-3, the second game was a "must" - The Fall Ballers bounced back to win 10-9 in eight innings to tie for the 2023 Fall Ball title with The Gurkhas at 7-3 each. Front row, l-r: Kurt Soura, Gary Parthemer, Rick Schmidt, Tim Kuszmaul, Randy Bores and Bob Miller. Back row, l-r: Bob Zubkoff, Jim Bier, Sid Siddall, Dave Durfey, Mark Clair and Ted Theaker.

Tuesday Night Heroes - 20 Fall Ballers - 13.
TNH needed to win game 1 against the Fall Ballers and came out swinging, taking the opener 20-13. Patterson (4/4), Mitchell (4/4), Wesolowski (3/3), and Stager (3/3) were perfect at the plate, and Stumm added two hits including a big HR. Everyone in the lineup had a hit and the defense backing P Hamann made the hard-hitting Ballers earn every run.

Fall Ballers 10 - Tuesday Night Heroes - 9, 8 innings.
Luckily for the Ballers, they were able to stop The Heroes for the last 5 innings. Great pitching and defense carried us to the victory. Never led till the 8th inning. Rising to the occasion in game 2 was Bob Zubkoff going 3/3 3r and 2 OTFHR. Other players chipping in were Ted Theaker 3/3 2r, Tim Kuszmaul 2/4, Dave Durfey 2/3 2r OTFHR, Sid Siddall 2/2, Randy Bores 2/3 and, Bob Miller 2/3. Congratulation to the Gurkhas for winning both of their game to be Co-Champions with the Fall Ballers for the Title. Thank you to all of my teammates for a fun and successful season.
